1890 women were hired as prison matrons

1917 - 1921 Women were hired as protective officers

1921 - 1938 Women became eligible to work as "patrolwomen" and "policewoman

1924 - 1973 Women took on more responsibility including carrying a gun like the men

1973 Women became eligible to get promotions in rank the same as men

1973 Women began receiving training at the police academy with the men and worked with male partners
